China’s System of Oppression in Xinjiang: How it Developed and How to Curb it

This article from the Brookings Institution describes the history of Uyghur Oppression at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party in Xinjiang province. It then gives a report of the current conditions in the region, as well as policy recommendations for addressing the ongoing oppression. These include reports on Chinese surveillance policies, and increased pressure to discourage the CCP from employing “pre-criminal” profiling measures on Uyghur individuals.
