This act of the Taiwanese Legislative Yuan aims to preserve and promote the island’s indigenous languages, and guarantee that such languages are used and passed down in contemporary society. In doing so, the act affirms that aboriginal languages can be used in governmental settings including parliamentary proceedings and court hearings.
